“Talk to Luke and you’ll meet people who…”

I take a lot of inspiration from how Ron Conway does business.

He runs a network of great people and always does right by them. In Ron’s network, the nodes are important business people and Ron governed and routed the calls while making sure his network is a great place to conduct business.

He invested in basically every great software business (just look), and yet, investing was just a means to HIS ends: helping great people achieve their business goals. He’s often considered “the most helpful person in Silicon Valley.”

I’d like to have a similar reputation. And I plan to do it in almost the exact same way - run a network to get rid of the friction and enable my business partners to focus on what’s important.

So when people talk about me, I’d like them to say, “Talk to Luke and you’ll meet people who…

  1. Answer when called. Everyone is responsive. If I make an intro, you know they will take the call.
  2. Have a way of doing business. There is a proper way to conduct oneself in a relationship. Everyone will be courteous, timely, and straightforward.
  3. Are positive sum. These people help each other. They see the world as a series of projects, with many players - all of whom can win.
  4. Are long term minded. When I intro two people, there’s a good chance they’ll intentionally build the relationship and help each other long after the initial meeting.
  5. Have high energy. These people grab life by the balls and take action. They are not going to waste your time asking for advice. They are coming in with energy and ideas, and you’ll leave with that vibe.
  6. Are well intentioned / high integrity. You have a gut feeling that you can trust them, even when you’re not around.”

Bonus traits:

  1. They have a zest for life. Fun hangs!!
  2. They break your frame. They’re free in way’s you’re not. And, they stretch your brain to think in ways it hasn’t before.
  3. They’re nerds about distribution / growth.

That’s it. I’ve been doing this since ~2021. I’m certainly not perfect, but this is the standard I’m gunning for.
