"The bamboo that bends is stronger than the oak that resists.”
It’s become clear to me that AI is going to be better than humans at almost all computer tasks. And I believe that that reality will be distributed to most computer jobs in the next decade.
Fuck.

Naturally I’ve been grappling a lot with that realization, particularly: “What should I be doing now to make sure I’m skating to where the puck is going?” (oh, and also that’s super scary, so I wanna do everything I can to maximize the chance that I’ll be able to take care of my family)
Here are some of my musings on what I am going to do:
1. Bet on my peers.
I believe Gen Z is primed to crush it in this new world. I plan to make sure I build great relationships with as many of them as I can. And help them win.
(Other folks too of course, I’m no ageist.)
2. People hate slop.
They love the imperfections, the humanness, the real and unfiltered showings of a human in their raw form. They love when creatives imprint themselves into the things they make.
I’d like to have a certain Luke-ness to my events, writings, outfits, and projects. In other words, I’m developing my taste.
But to know what you like, you gotta try a lot of things and see how they sit with you. So that’s what I plan to do: throw parties based on stupid ideas, go to museums and sit with a painting for an afternoon, sit and observe the raw reality of a coffee shop while my phone sits at home, etc etc.
3. Curate an environment with people and systems that consistently generate great ideas.
There is a way to create magic. Creatives do it. Teams have done it. I plan to do the same (by manipulating my internal + external conditions).
This is the age of the idea guy.
4. Build equity in businesses that take advantage of AI.
Just as Amazon created a long-tail of retail entrepreneurs, AI will create a long tail of service entrepreneurs.
Plus, as the world moves towards project-based work + temporary alpha in the market, those who can seize opportunities when they arise will be rewarded. I’d imagine the avg. age of a company or product to be lower than before.
To do that, I have to build my agency + bias to create things that may fail. More experiments. More fucking around and finding out.
5. Study Krishnamurti, meditation, and eastern philosophy.
This will be a period of massive change. Fortune will favor the nimble ones.
To be nimble, one must be able to stomach change + keep one’s identity small to re-invent yourself when it makes sense.
Luckily, the above topics have tons of wisdom on this.
6. Double down on facilitating trust + human connection.
Both of these things are not getting totally outsourced to AI. Humans still want to spend time with humans. And humans still need to trust each other to get shit done.
I plan to continually be at the center of both. Hosting events. Making intro’s. Being thoughtful.
Because when everything else can be automated, the things that can’t be (trust, presence, genuine connection) become much more valuable.
Alright, that’s it. If you’ve got any ideas, I’d love to hear em! Email me at lukepclancy6@gmail.com
